Alina Metamorphosis

Metamorphosis — from the Ancient Greek word meaning "transformation". 

We were inspired by this powerful concept of change and rebirth to create our new Metamorphosis Collection. 

This collection transforms the rainforest’s discarded jewels into intricate mosaic masterpieces. Each display requires hours to assemble and is made up of hundreds of individual wings, meticulously placed by our talented craftsmen to create these breathtaking works of art.

Sternocera Jewel Beetles are edible and farmed as a concentrated source of protein in their native countries of Thailand, Laos, and China. Beetle wings are collected as a by-product of this food industry, as communities are able to generate additional income and economic opportunities by selling the iridescent elytra as decorations for clothing and jewellery. 

We were inspired to breathe new life into these materials, and showcase the beauty and value of utilising natural resources and transforming waste-products into art. Moreover, by supporting these enterprises we can help contribute to local livelihoods and promote sustainable development.

This beautiful piece has been mounted on a bespoke solid oak stand.

Base: FSC certified Solid European Oak, locally sourced from our Cheshire-based supplier and specially selected for a smooth grain. Hand-finished to order in our studio with a black wood stain finish.

This approach helps native communities generate a sustainable and equitable income, while providing an economic incentive to protect endangered habitats rather than environmentally destructive practices such as deforestation for logging and agriculture.

We are working hard to be a carbon neutral brand, by investing in planting trees to offset our carbon emissions and continuing to operate responsibly. We also package all of our products using 100% recyclable or reusable materials to reduce our environmental impact.

Both ourselves and our suppliers use recycled material through as much of the design & production process as possible. All of our card mounts and solid oak stands are FSC certified, meaning that the trees used are harvested responsibly and replaced to ensure no net loss of forest.
